What is digital equity?

Digital equity is the "condition in which all individuals and communities have the capacity and resources needed for full participation in a 21st-century education, economy, and society" (Ravi, 2020). Digital equity is a topic that needs to be addressed not only in the classroom, but within society as well. Today's economy relies heavily on the use of multi-media formats to provide and distribute information, which demonstrates the need for citizens to have the resources to access and understand the digital world they live in. The image above states, "Equity is the path to ambition", which illustrates the barriers that could potentially disrupt one's ability to achieve their goals and aspirations. Without equity, certain limitations prevent individuals from the ability to thrive in our society, and even prohibit people from having big goals and dreams because they either can't access or use something, or they never learned how to.
